  1. I give in, what’s belle etoile? I even tried googling before asking.

Well belle means beautiful, so just a description. But etoile is intriguing. I’m guesstimating cos etoile means star, there’s 1 of 2 things: 1) special sauce, even though it said butter (butter across the pond I heard than what we use—I use mayo, American) 2) a special ingredient, which could be a plain ingredient itself that’s more up there (like the meat or any things you listed, think “best of best”) or literally, a secret ingredient.

    3) I just thought… it was rated very well in the community. Maybe a name they called the sandwich. How whatever tastes how it tastes gives it that special effect/ beautiful star[dom] taste. Could be the bread even 🤷‍♀️

I’m settling with description at the end. Just a really well made sandwich in its simplicity. Just genuine. And tastefully good.

Looks good. Brie is not a cheese from Normandie though.

I never realized that this kind of sandwich has a name! I’ve been making it for years when I want a hot meal at home but am too lazy to do anything involved. I hadn’t added cornichons before, and I usually throw on some mustard and bake it for a bit to get the bread crusty and the cheese gooey.
