I bought new jars with lids included. I just took the lids off to wash the jars and they were on tight and look indented. Not sure how well the picture will show. But the lids I bought that were not on a jar have a smooth ring and these have an indent. They look like they do after you use them. Are these ok to use?

Almost like maybe they got too hot during shipping and lightly sealed?
I’ve had some new jars come with lids like this. What I suspect is happening, is that the trays of jars are being stacked upon each other, and somewhere during distribution, the trays are getting stacked with too many trays on top, and the weight is causing the lower trays to sort of seal under the pressure.
I have found that soaking the lids in warm water revives the sealant, but I’ve been too nervous to actually use the lids in canning, so I save them for storing dried items.
It’s really frustrating. Lids are not cheap where I am.

Thanks I was just nervous that they were not able to be used anymore
If in doubt, toss them out! New lids are so cheap why would you go through the trouble to can anything with a questionable lid?
Assuming that’s a camera glitch and not little balls of plasma coming off of the lids, what do you think is wrong with them? They don’t look used. That red stuff deforms with heat. The orange peel won’t matter.
