Maybe they would just call it “Habanero” if they didn’t want to make it sweet.

It can be a little offputting when the sweet overwhelms the spice for sauces or food stuffs. Like, it can be good… but it kinda feels like the spice is an afterthought at times. Though I’d imagine everyone has their own sensitivity to sweetness as one would to spice.

I think making habenero sauces really sweet is overdone and takes away from the flavor of the habenero. This is why El Yucateco red is my favorite habenero sauce.
