I’ll also show you how to make Domatesli Şehriye Çorbası (tomato orzo soup) using leftover chicken broth, simple homemade dinner rolls, and a refreshing shepherd’s salad.

Along the way, we’ll explore how Tavuk Kapama is similar to ‘mişoriz,’ a dish from the Balkan countries, showing the rich cultural connection through food. Whether you’re new to Turkish cuisine or a seasoned home cook, this easy-to-follow recipe is sure to impress your family and friends!

Ingredients for easy dinner rolls:
2 cups lukewarm water (or use up to 1 cup of it milk)
1 tbsp sugar
20-30gr. fresh yeast or 1 package dry yeast
2 tsp salt
About 5+1/2 cups flour ( i used about 1 cup siyez wheat)
1/4 cup olive oil or vegetable oil

Ingredients for turkish chicken rice “Tavuk kapama” Chicken kapama
7-8 chicken drumstick or 1 whole chicken curbinto parts except breast
4-5 cups eater to boil chicken
2 bay leaves,
Pepper corns salt to taste for the broth
For the rice 2 + 1/2 cups of long grain rice (sokaed in warm salty wster for at least 30 min.
2 medium size onion
2 tbsp butter
2-3 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp sugar
1+1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp allspice
1 tsp black pepper
3+3/4 cup chicken broth

For the tomato vermicelli soup
2-3 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tbsp tomato paste
1-2 grated tomatoes
About 4 cup chicken broth
1 cup vermicelli rice
Black pepper
Salt to taste
Chopped parsley

The chicken and rice dish sounds extra delicious and I love how you made a soup with the extra broth! ❤️ I make similar bread rolls regularly. I like having some water and some milk in the dough.   6. What is the kind of rice used in this recipe? Is it baldo….? The rice here sticks to each other and make the pilav sticky so whats the trick to make it non sticky and the common measurements (ratio)( for rice and water)….

  12. Heres a tip to help The yeast dough rise faster. I ppace the bowl inside the oven while its off. But i turn on the light inside the oven so that the heat from the light warms up the bowl. My dough rises in an hr.
