Was lucky enough to snag two of these the day they dropped at my local store. Thought I’d share my first impressions.

For context, I’ve been baking for ages in my two cast iron dutch ovens. They’re sturdy and reliable but a bit awkward and cumbersome.

The Aldi oven (a $25 knockoff of Le Creuset’s $300 bread oven) is definitely easier to move around than a full dutch oven.

The only challenge was removing the lids after 20 minutes. Sliding off a dutch oven lid from a 500-degree oven is a lot easier than removing a big dome (I had a similar problem once when I tried using a hot hotel pan over a baking stone. But next time I’ll just slide out the rack to give me more room to remove the dome (at the cost of some lost heat, unfortunately).

The bake turned out exactly like my dutch ovens, so I’m happy with it! These admittedly only have one use in the kitchen, so having two of them will take up a lot of storage space, but for those who bake consistently I think it was a great find.

    Interesting. Does anyone have the $300 LC? I can get one with loyalty points so although I wouldn’t typically spend cash on something like this, spending point for some reason seems palatable, provided that it does a great job. I have a LC Dutch oven already so maybe the bread oven is redundant.

    Hello, what’s the size of the Aldi store Crofton bread dome? Aldi website seems to have the wrong descriptions for some other products.

  3. Most of the heat from your oven is radiant heat from the sides, the loss of heat from pulling the rack out to remove the lid is minimal.
