Hey y’all, just got this ‘NY sirloin steak’ in. It looks like chuck to me? I’m just getting into steak so I could be wrong.

That’s a whole sirloin roast cut into steaks, definitely not a chuck. The steak on bottom is gonna be tough as fuck though; we always used the first piece as stew

It almost looks like top sirloin with the cap on to me. I could be wrong

Meat quality at McKinnons is questionable

I eat entire chuck roasts as steaks. Normal steaks can’t be large enough for my volume of consumption.

Echoing everyone else. It’s just cap-on top sirloin. Weird of them to say NY sirloin, but it’s just top sirloin.

Don’t waste it by sending it back. I’m not a huge fan of sirloin as a steak but I cut mine into slices, marinate and then throw the slices into a pan or stirfry

That a Keychron keyboard?🤓. I have one and love it

  9. I understand the confusion here. I’m local to you OP and not at my place of business or anywhere around. I see people refer to this as a “NY Sirloin” doesn’t mean it’s not a thing but for that price you should have probably questioned. It’s still a good deal for what you got. I’d just count this as a lesson and eat them, honestly.

That’s definitely a sirloin steak. About 30 years ago at the bottom of that there would be filet. You just get the top sirloin. Oval piece at the bottom of the steak is also a little piece of filet. Second steak with the big lip on the top, is also sirloin but not as nice a cut. San Diego you pay 10 bucks a pound for that in usda choice.
