Hey all, found this video and can’t imagine this nor completely charing the outside and being raw in the middle.

Does anyone know anything about throwing a brisket on a griddle?

Like most cuts of meat there more than one way to cook them. We have roasted the point before, and it came out great.

I imagine he’s gonna finish it in an oven. Traditional Jewish brisket is not the same as slow smoked bbq brisket. Still delicious though!

Jewish brisket is typically braised. I would guess this is just searing it prior to doing that

That’s for a whole synagogue? It’s barely enough for me and 4 others 😂

I know the brisket that I’m eating tonight at my mother’s house for Rosh Hashanah is brraised all day. Dude is likely just searing it first

As someone else said, probably to sear. I had a point section left over after attempting pastrami(ran out of space in the cure tub), and we seared it and pressure cooked it till it fell apart. Was delicious.

I have a recipe for braised brisket. Uses sliced onion and cranberries. After braising you wrap everything in foil and let it sit overnight. Then reheat the next day. Amazing…

My mom’s making a brisket Friday night after Rosh Hashanah and it’s going to be oven cooked. Which is good but I wish she’d just smoke it 😭

I’m not Jewish but my wife is and I used to be a sous chef so she asked me to make brisket for the event and year you salt it sear it and cook it in wine and apple and mirepoix. It was good but nothing is better then smoking a brisket.

I always grab briskets between 22 – 28lbs to smoke. If I’m doing a brisket, I’m feeding everybody.

Did…Did he just drop an unseasoned brisket on the smoker and be proud about it?

I’m pretty sure he’s searing it off to transfer into a braising liquid. Jewish brisket is braised not smoked.

Some of the worst shoe leather brisket I’ve had has been somebody’s family recipe served at a Cedar or such. Its fun getting a jaw workout pretending its great as to not insult grandma….
