Hi there. Forgive me if this isn’t the exact correct community to ask this question. I dehydrated peppers in 2020 and they have been living in mason jars ever since. The jars are not canned or vacuum sealed or anything. They look ok. Should I toss though?

There are a couple of videos on YouTube about dehydrated veggies. They talk about shelf life. A quick way to check would be to shake the jar and listen. It should make a light tink tink noise. If you hear a plunk plunk then moisture has gotten to them. You should also inspect each one too before use.
They would lose flavor over time, like all spices do, but otherwise if there are no signs of mold or moisture they should be fine.
i have had dried cayennes for yrs , stored in plastic gallon jugs in basement . Whenever i need some hot pepper flakes i just grab a few to grind up. Still good after all these years.
