Got this guy as part of a kaiseki meal in Japan, and I was flummoxed on how to eat it. You may not be able to tell from the picture, but it was huge. I guess it was probably a prawn, not a shrimp, but anyway… the shell had sauce on it, so it seemed like a bad move to pop the shell off with my hands, but the shell was pretty thick, due to the size of the shrimp. Do people really eat the whole shrimp, shell and all? Seems hard to pop the shell open with chopsticks. Hellllllllp

  1. Yep. You can eat the whole thing. It’s good. Just chew really well.

No, don’t eat the shell. Remove the head and suck out the tomalley, if you like. For the body, I would just bite down on the shell and suck out the meat, like you would an Otterpop if that makes sense. There’s not really a glamorous way of doing it and everyone understands that.

Best thing is fried shrimps j. The shell! The head might be a bit tough, but then just suck out the good stuff!

Rip the head off, and the legs, and then eat the rest. Shell and all

If it’s heavily fried – I would just eat it all

I break its head off and chomp that in one bite. Then eat the body.

Break the back of the Shrimp/prawn.
    Remove the head
    Remove the tail
    Remove the shell.
Remove teh red or blsck thingy line. That is on the shrimps/prawn back.
    And eat it!

The Juices of the sauce is in the prawn/shrimp Meat. It is delicious.

You can eat the whole thing!
If you are uncomfortable with that, peel off the head and suck out the juices. Then, suck on the shell for the flavors and then peel it off to get to the meat.

Well it’s been 3 hrs, are you still there waiting for the correct answer before you eat it?
