    No matter what you do, those grates suck. Bought more expensive aftermarket ones. Never again did that happen

    I never clean my either, sometimes I just crank it up to 500⁰ and let everything burn. I’m lazy.

    You have to replace the metal, it has rust. Not a good idea to mix oil and fire and scrape it off, you’ll get covered in bits of it and you have to protect everything specially face and eyes. Theres also the danger of bits of metal from the brush or even the grill going into your food afterwards. Anyway the gril has to be replaced because of rust that can go to the food.
