    Your slashes should be as close to vertical down the baguette as possible. Here’s a [good video reference](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ebKpEG0tBM).

    Make sure your blade is close to parallel with the surface of the dough, so as to cut flaps that’ll form ears.
