What kind of bun do you like for a burger?

I made “smash” burgers (which is just a diner burger, right?). The only choices I had for burgers buns were brioche or the flimsy ones that say hamburger buns on the package. I was thinking a potato bun would be good.

To make these I made 3oz balls of 80/20 ground beef and put them in the fridge for a few hours. Then I put them on the griddle, covered in a square of parchment and smashed them into a burger shape. Added salt and pepper, then tiny slices of onion. Smash again and flip. Salt and pepper again. Then a slice of cheese and they’re done. They cook for maybe two minutes on each side. I served with burger sauce, pickles, tomatoes, shredded lettuce and red onion slices.

I made cauliflower tater tots to go with them but that recipe needs a lot of work so I didn’t include a picture.

Had a pretzel bun on one recently and am converted. Brioche is okay but everyone seems to do them over seeded roll now.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but i can’t find a bun I like so I tried iceberg lettuce to wrap it all in and that is now my go to for burgers every time. It’s so delicious because it does nothing to steal flavor while also adding a tiny crunch to the texture.

Loooove Ciabatta 🤤😋 particularly if it’s slightly toasted and buttered

Potato or brioche are my favorites

I used to be a brioche boy, but potato buns have won my heart over.

There’s a brand near me called “Artisan” that makes great buns.

    Homemade Sourdough or brioche.

Side rant: I cannot _stand_ the trend of making burgers taller and taller for fancy. You want to impress? Make em wider.
    Stupid Insta form over function

Hard roll but they are hard to come by nowadays. It’s like a Kaiser roll but with a slightly hard outer layer.

Not raw preferably toasted lightly on the inside..
