Probably hard to see from the picture but the seal around the vent has separated and I’m sure that’s a path for air to get in. I noticed it last night when shutting down (could see the orange glow of coals in the base through the gap). It seemed to shut down although I wonder how much extra lump burned up with the extra air. It’s holding temp just fine today for a pair of St. Louis ribs but is this something I need to fix? What do I use if so.

You might be able to clean around the vent with isopropyl alcohol and get a new bead of high temp RTV to stick, but frankly, I’d pull the screws, pull the vent off, clean everything, put a fresh bead of RTV on the vent, and reinstall it.
