I'm scared to death I ruined my Egg. Went to trim the ribs not paying attention to the chimney and it was in flames. The plastic/rubber melted completely into the coals. Will the fumes cook into the ceramic and ruin the Egg for future cooks? My fear is that the toxicity of the materials is like what lighter fluid would do to the ceramic. Any help or words of encouragement are appreciated.

You should be fine. Remove contaminated coals and run a hot fire for 15 minutes to get rid of any impurities.
Shut it down, cool, pull coals (unless you have a SAFE way to pull most of hot coals) new charcoal, clean burn, check for odor
I’d say remove the coals and once cool toss. It should catch most of the plastic. Besides… given all the crap that is found in charcoal bags the odds that everyone has burned up a chunk of plastic is near 100%.
Agree. I’d do a fresh, hot burn after you clean her out. Your panic is understandable but I think you’re good.
You fine just clean it up after its cooled.
Also stop using a charcoal chimney. There are better and easier ways to start the coals in your egg, you don’t need this.
