Continuing my mission to make as many sandwiches from The Encyclopedia of Sandwiches (by Susan Russo) as I can, #16 is the baked bean sandwich. Baked beans are like my childhood, it was one of those easy suppers, so it was kinda nostalgic. I liked the sweetness of the beans and brown bread. Some cheese slices on the side would go perfectly with this!

this sandwich presents an easy target for mockery but actually supplies a decent balance of tastiness vs nutrition, while remaining as simple as you can get. people cannot always afford expensive ingredients, but if there were one to be added here it would surely be some shreds of melted cheese

Reminds me of what I used to eat when I was a kid back in the 70s and 80s. Canned ham and bean soup (or was it bean with bacon, can’t remember exactly) over 2 slices of bread. I loved it.
