I kind of abandoned my garden in the late spring, lots of work and family issues and I just never had the time. My peppers look immaculate but these carrots look weird. First time I've actually grown carrots, through extreme neglect.

Who cares what they look like. Do they taste good? I had a crop of beautiful carrots this year but they matured during a dry/hot spell and were too bitter to use.
My husband and I grew some weird carrots as well! I think we planted them too close together; we pulled them out in little conjoined clumps of 3 to 6. They were delicious though!! I’m already looking forward to planting them next year 😋

We love a wonky vegetable! The ideal shape we see in stores is as engineered as a magazine cover model. This is real food and YOU grew it. Be proud!

My guy it’s a root vegetable. You’ve seen roots before. This is a root that’s edible. You did great. Better than I ever have.

That’s how carrots look like!

Looks like potential root knot nematodes on the carrot on the left. Can cause deformities.

Welcome to gardening! There’s a new trend specifically in the “ugly” produce. There’s whole days dedicated to ugly potatoes

Don’t body shame them 😭

You could get pristine carrots that taste like shit from the grocery store or you could spend months growing your own and hope and pray that you get some ugly weird carrots out of the whole ordeal.
I bet they taste great.
This is my first year growing carrots and they’re not picture perfect by any means but they are unlike any carrot I’ve ever tasted before. And I’ve learned to love carrot tops. They’re so fluffy. I go outside just to pet them every day. And I’ve been using them in everything. Tonight it was potato soup made with ugly carrots and an abundance of carrot tops. Yum!
When I lovingly mixed together all of my sand and compost and put it in a box and sowed a zillion carrot seeds in there and misted it for days while I waited for signs of life I kept asking myself why the hell I was going through all of this when carrots are still remarkably cheap as far as groceries go nowadays. Now I know why. They’re just sort of magical and fun. I wanna grow carrots forever.

To much nitrogen and inconsistent watering
