Done grilling and chilling and watching TV. Noticed a big glow out back. No clue what it was. Went out back and my deck was up in flames. First I was very fortunate I was awake when it happened, and 2nd I was easily able to put it out. Things could've been much worse if timing was different.

What caused it?
I always put a metal drip sheet under my grills on a wooden deck.
Ooof. Glad it wasn’t worse!
There is no grass on your property to grill above?
This is why I’ve seen people hose down the grill spot before using charcoal, to discourage coals from starting fires with a wet and soaky floor/grass
