My understanding of the smash burger is that it is in the neighborhood of the thinness you have here but you also smear the edges down to even thinner, the goal being to get those thin edges crispy with carmelization
So you have a thin burger that isn’t undercooked by being too thick when you only cook the burger so long that the whisper thin edges don’t go from caramelized to burnt.
That burger looks amazing regardless. If you did those thin edges you would be our new king.

Personally, I think you did good. Those patties that others smash to smithereens? Not super attainable unless you have all the right tools and a flat top, which most don’t have.
