Wife bought this about six years ago and we have kept it in a dark cabinet ever since. Should we buy a little wine fridge to store it properly? When should we open it?

Probably ok to continue storing as before as long as it’s a reasonably cool spot without significant temp variation, preferably on its side to keep cork moist. Wine is probably drinking well now but you could continue to cellar for another 5-10 years easily.

You never know when the Good Lord will come calling. Intended purpose is to drink. Don’t overthink it. Drink up.

Open it tonight. Slap a steak on the grill, or if you’re vegetarian maybe some aged cheddar or an impossible burger. Enjoy and let us know how it was. It’s already 10 yrs old and gonna be bangin. After that long it’s probably juuuuust started to age faster than you want without a wine fridge, but not at all too late to be delicious. You never know when tomorrow won’t come.

I wouldn’t buy a wine fridge unless you have more stuff to lay down or are planning on doing some cellaring. Also, should be good to go now – wait for a special occasion, cook some steaks and crack it open.

Drink it, and plan it around a nice meal. Maybe take it to a steakhouse or favorite restaurant….

It’s perfection.

I think you open it with a cork screw, pour into a glass, and drink, and if you pour it with a juicy steak and some blue cheese it might taste even better.

I’m with the open it now, in the fall, with a steak crowd

My aunt and uncle randomly gifted us a 1997 vintage of this bottle. There was a 50/50 chance it was corked, so we opened it on a random night shortly thereafter. It remains to this day the most wonderful, delightfully delicious, amazing wine I’ve ever tasted in my entire life
Open it. Drink it. Enjoy it.

1. Wine ages faster when not in a temp controlled environment.
2. There is nothing worse than keeping a special bottle too long.
3. After 10 years, at the very least, this will be past it’s extreme youth and be drinking nicely.
