Looks like the ANOVA subscription is up and running now. Looks like their subscription model is not only charging you for notification, but has turned their recipe library behind a pay wall. I contributed a few recipes, does this mean that I need a subscription to access my own content?

I never got my unit to reliably connect to my phone, and then they discontinued BT monitoring, so not too worried about the unit control, but their recipe library is subscription only is beyond BS. Clearly it is not about them loosing money due to push notifications via wifi control, but it is all about new revenue stream to access their USER CREATED recipe library.

Nice of them to only gate features that I don’t care about even a little

Recipes are still freely available online. Just use a browser. [https://recipes.anovaculinary.com/](https://recipes.anovaculinary.com/)

Not really sure why anyone would need an app for a sous vide machine anyway. Put it in the water, turn on, set temp and walk away for however long it is supposed to cook for. It’s not like you need to do adjustments to temp.

  3. I never even bothered with the Bluetooth integration on mine, it’s a waste of money and a bit absurd to subscribe for anything there. It’s shameless rent seeking on Anova’s part.

I’m still annoyed they obsoleted a perfectly functioning device for me. Removing features I bought the device for…
I want to know if my stuff is cooking, and be alerted if it gets interrupted. So what if it’s 5 years later, my car may not update it’s gps software, but it doesn’t get features turned off.
I’m not buying another from them because of this.
They could have dead ended the software, instead they chose to abandon their customers.

They did, but soon my anova won’t work with the app, so it will be moot. I may be grandfathered, but won’t care.
And I’m not going to give a company money who removed functionality from my product after the fact.

The pay wall has been live for a while and it’s frustrating. I specifically bought it for both the cooking and wifi access. I’m typically cooking dinner parties with music and such, or I’m working or out and need to remotely start the cooker ornreceive a phone notification when complete. I bought this roughly 2 months ago and I was pay walled. I sadly didn’t check before the best buy 14 day return policy and can’t return it. Absolutely false advertising in my opinion.

Lol subscription on a sous vide. The end is nigh.

i got grandfathered in for the Gen1 but it is only for a year since they are removing internet access to those anyway. My Inkbird circulator is much more reliable and less annoying at end of cook anyway
