Eat Like Greek, Traditional Garides saganaki , shrimps in tomato sauce and feta cheese! An amazing dish you can enjoy it as meze or as main dish, one of the signature dishes in most Greek islands with little variations depends the family recipe or the region! • ingredients:
-2lb shrimps
– 5-8 diced or grind tomatoes
– 1 onion in slices
– 3-4 garlic cloves in chunks
– pepper optional
– 1 handful parsley
– 1/2 a cup ouzo or anise
– salt and pepper as needed
– feta cheese measure with your heart
– olive oil the most the merrier
• instructions:
– add olive oil into a preheated pan, add the peppers, the onions and the garlic and sauté for about 8 mins, the add the tomatoes, add seasoning and the anise or the ouzo or even both, the parsley, cover and cook in medium heat until all the juices comes down about 15 mins
– before finishing cooking add the shrimps and cook for 5-8 additional minutes or as needed until all the juices has been evaporated and you have a thick tomato sauce
– turn off the heat, add feta cheese crumbs, mix until is creamy
– serve and garnish with some more feta , fresh extra virgin olive oil and scallions
– enjoy with grilled bread
