Hi . I make mine same way only I use a good tomato basil flavored pasta sauce and a can of stewed tomatoes and heavy whipping cream no onion salt pepper . Yumm now I know what I making for supper tomorrow night .
There was a time when my youngest daughter as a toddler would NOT eat anything but tomato soup and grilled cheese or chicken nuggets. lol! I use onion powder in mine instead of chopped onions.
I’ve never had chunky tomato 🍅 soup , sounds good enough to try I was glad to see the sugar. I always put sugar in my soup, and the cream also. My mouth is literally watering. 😊 thanks for the recipe.

I also have that same corningware plate set and I often say that I’m going to donate them but deep down I say to myself they don’t make them like this anymore so I will just keep them
Whenever I open a can of tomato soup, I always add a good amount of chunky salsa, I love the chunks in mine as well. Homemade is always better, but I am not a fan of milk or cream in tomato soup, I guess I am a plain jane.
