Learn how to make a classic Italian Bucatini Cacio e Pepe with just 5 simple ingredients! This flavorful pasta dish combines Pecorino Romano cheese and freshly crushed black pepper for a creamy, peppery, and delicious meal. Follow these easy steps to recreate this authentic recipe at home.

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon salt
50 black peppercorns
500g Bucatini pasta
175g Pecorino Romano cheese (finely grated)
Freshly ground black pepper (for serving)
Instructions:

Fill a large pot with 4-5 liters of water and add 1 tablespoon of salt. Bring to a boil.
Crush the peppercorns in a mortar.
Cook Bucatini pasta 1 minute less than the package instructions, stirring occasionally.
Toast the crushed peppercorns in a large pan for 1 minute.
Add 2 ladles of pasta water to the pan and simmer for 30 seconds, then set aside.
In a small pot, mix 2 ladles of pasta water with the Pecorino cheese to create a thick sauce.
Combine the sauce with the toasted pepper.
Add the pasta and toss to coat.
Serve immediately with extra sauce and freshly ground pepper on top!
