This was my favorite as a kid. My mom would always make it for my Birthday. I bet she used this same recipe too!

    Oooo what a great recipe!

I bet that 7 min frosting is so glossy and smooth with the Karo corn syrup added to it! 😻🍫🍰

Sooo….where is the chocolate for the cake? Am I just missing it?!?

  4. PCordrey

Did not even notice that they left the chocolate out of the chocolate cake recipe.

  5. Wow, they really went all out on the cake decorations that year. 😂

Hey! How can I make this cake so that it actually has chocolate in it?? Sub some cocoa in for some of the flour??

We had fresh coconut cake with 7-minute icing. Took 30 minutes to make that damned icing and it would deflate and become sugary in a heartbeat pre-airconditioning lol.

5 cups of sugar between the cake and frosting wow no wonder cake it considered an occasional treat.

  9. October 6th?! Our Costco started thinking about it in July!

Love how’s it’s October 6th and the headline is “It’s almost time to think of Halloween.”

I started decorating in August 🎃

Ooh, I love this kind of frosting on chocolate cake. The best.

  12. Seven minute frosting is wonderful. My mom used to put that on my birthday cake.🥰

My grandmother’s default cake was a coffee chocolate cake with seven minute frosting. Cake batter was thin almost like pancake batter but it rose into a cake. And add a small amount corn syrupy to the frosting to help prevent it being grainy from the sugar.
