Soooo excited to get the BGE.
Not sure where to place the egg where it won’t get damage by Texas weather. I’m thinking these two places marked in red? The place under the cement has a roof cover but the one next to the pillar will be exposed to the elements.. space is limited in this backyard but we will try and make it work.

is your concern hail/debris or just rain/wind?
In Western PA. Mine sits out with just a cover as mentioned before. No issues here but we don’t get all of the “interesting” weather that Texas does.
Eastern Washington state with heavy snow in the winter i don’t even use a cover. I clean the ceramic every spring and my 10 year old egg still looks good
I am in NW GA and I keep mine in a similar location (Just off a breezeway between my house and garage-no roof cover) and a soft cover has been fine for over four years. We have not had huge hail storms in that time but I would not be worried about it too much anyway.
I will say the BGE soft cover does not last as long as I would like for the price. After buying two, I finally succumbed to the Amazon version. They all tend to get pretty crispy being exposed to the GA heat and humidity.
Thank you for all the responses. It looks like my only options are to
1. Move my fountain
2. The left red circle area
Just get a cover and put it wherever. – it’ll be fine. I’m in Houston and leave mine outside with just a cheap knock-off waterproof cover. It has withstood all of the crazy weather we have gotten over the past 10 years , so far🤞!
I’m in Maine. 30’ from the Atlantic. Mine sits barely under an overhanging 2nd floor deck. Gets snow, rain, small hail, hurricanes, heavy snow, constant salt winds, and extreme temps. No cover, shitty pallet table I made when 2×4’s were $80 each.
The wooden handle is… lackluster, but other than that, it’s mint. Grilled/baked/smoked in -30° F.
Just don’t use it over those carpets, and enjoy it.
Looks like your egg isn’t in the nest correctly. You may wanna double check that
It’ll be fine with just a cover, and you don’t have to be super rigorous about remembering it either.
About the only thing that kills these grills is dropping, or a manufacturing defect causing the ceramic to crack. They’re bombproof otherwise. Follow the directions about moving it, though! Always pull, never push.
I’m in Central Florida and every grill I put on my pool deck immediately starts to disintegrate like it is sitting in acid. It can turn a $2500 grill into rubble in like 3 years. I finally just ordered something called a Saxony XL grill gazebo. They have it at Sam’s for $999
Welcome!
Just don’t let anything be close to the top exhaust vent, it’s possible for sparks and high temperatures to cause a fire.
If you keep it anywhere near the roofed patio, keep a fan moving air so the ceiling does not end up all black from soot. I’m in TX and keep mine out a bit with a cover. Hail does not worry me. I’d pit it like your grill and with a similar cover.
