My wife and I just finished our honeymoon and part of it was visiting both the Loire Valley and Bordeaux wine regions.

We are both fairly new to wine and haven't delved too much into the Old World. We loved how much we learned about the process and grew a much deeper love and respect for wine.

The 1993 Vouvray, we only bought because that is our birth year and it was only 6€. It was the oldest white that I have had and it was a lot in the mouth. Tasted like I took a mouth full of dirt and chased it with some mushroom water. Definitely wasn't a favorite.

We weren't in Bordeaux long, only 2 and a half days and only got one wine tour in at St. Emillion. I wish we would have been able to spend more time in this area as there was more things to see and wine to try than we had time for.

This is the haul that we came home with. Our main goal was to get a bottle with the intention to save it for our 15 year anniversary. We chose the 2020 Chateau Martet. We loved this wine when we tried it at the shop. Had the tasting notes of dark cherry, vanilla, and licorice.

Happy with our haul and can't wait to go back!
