I made a carrot cake.


I wanted to make a cake inspired by some cupcakes I saw on ig made by thesqueakymixer. I also wanted to be able to use up some of the dates I bought for it so I went with a carrot cake and added some chopped up dates in place of currants.     I bought dates recently for the first time and when I opened the package, this is all I could see. So glad I’m not the only one who thinks they’re roaches in disguise!! *bleh* lol

    This was a nope for me unfortunately. But that’s a testament to how convincing of a job you did! 🤪

    When I was a kid my dad would always say he was eating roaches when he had dates. I was too little to not believe him. He thought it was hilarious, I am still scarred from it. Lol.

    I avoided them like the plague through my teens. It wasn’t until my 20’s that I attempted eating them again, but shuddered. In my 30’s I was able to sort of enjoy dates. Now in my 40’s I still have this core memory every time I see or have dates. And my throat still tightens a bit when I eat them whole. 🥴😆

    Love the flavor though!!

    Not only did you add lines to your dates to make them look like roaches, you also added chopped nuts to make them look like they’re shitting nuts 😭
