2020 Barolo DOCG. I thought I would try the Barolo and Brunello Kirkland brands. Nice nose with fresh fruits and a bit of cherry. Too harsh on the first sips. It needs some decanting but it did soften as I drank a glass over 30 minutes. I usually drink a bottle over a few days, so I expect it to get better. Light bodied, red fruits, a bit of leather maybe and wood. Fairly short finish with not a lot of complexity. Not terribly well balanced. For $20, it’s not bad. I’ve only had a handful of Barolos but they were properly aged. I don’t know enough yet to determine how good a wine would be after a few years in the cellar, this one might be a little better, but I don’t think it will ever be fantastic. I’d give it an 89. I will post when I try the Super B.

So good. Many Kirkland Barolos have died an early death at my hands so that my other Barolos can age safely in the cellar.
This will be better tomorrow. It’s a great Tuesday Barolo. The previous vintage of Brunello was the best Kirkland wine have ever tasted. I have a bottle of the new one sitting in my rack. Excited to try it. For $20 both these wines can kick it
thanks for the review – have both the barolo & brunello in my wine fridge, just waiting for the right time to try!
