Got this at a local wine & liquor store and saw only this one for this price only. Reg price tag was at $120. Is this normal practice? If so, I would buy all day long. Btw this one is quite oaky. It taste just like if you blend 30% Bordeaux and 70% Burgundy. Really good!

The higher up you go in wine, the more a torn label matters. I’d take a $30 discount on this wine any day. But if I were buying a case of 1990 Petrus and all the labels were damaged, I’d start to question the provenance. If they didn’t care to protect the labels, maybe they weren’t careful about avoiding heat exposure or other issues either. In that case, I wouldn’t pay anything close to the “market rate” and would likely avoid it all together
My local liquor store has a shelf with regularly rotating bottles that have damaged labels or other aesthetic issues at steep discounts. I often go in just to see what’s on the shelf.
