Hi everyone! I’m still very new to the wine world and I would like to learn more about tasting notes. So I managed to snag this CDR at a cheaper price of RM78.90 ($18 ish). Usual price goes about closer to RM90 ($20) in Malaysia.
I would describe it but words fail me. What I’m getting is the smell of black pepper, tobacco and some grass and upon drinking, it leaves a lemony taste lingering on the tongue, somewhat citrus-forward and clean taste. I know this is one of the quaffable reds but I would love to learn how to describe it. Any advice is appreciated!

You doing fine. It’s what you feel and taste. Doesn’t matter what others feel or taste.
Describe three stages. The smell, the taste, the finish/how it makes u feel.
Sometimes simpler wines will have a missing component
Old reliable itself! Great weekday drinker here.
Oh, and there’s no such things as wrong wine notes. Everyone has a different palate!
I feel as if I’ve been living under a rock because Guigal is EVERYWHERE and I never really noticed until last year.
Great bottle with a high QPR.
You didn’t talk about the texture of the wine ; how it feels in the mouth, the tannins, viscosity etc. Wine isn’t just a liquid, think of it more like a soup with chunky bits in.
