I pressure cook like a pound of beans at a time and chuck them in the freezer. I don’t have the money for meal prep containers so I just use leftover jars lol. Each one lasts like 3-4 days and I just plop beans into whatever I’m eating.

    Please post your recipe!

We recently added a rule (#6) requiring either a recipe or list of ingredients, since it is so often requested. If you wouldn’t mind adding that we’d appreciate it!

  6. I commend your resourcefulness. Why buy when you can repurpose?!

Good on you for being able to choke down beans all the time. I can’t do it.

    Okay I guess I need a recipe.

    Ingredients:

    Beans

    Salt

Other spices (optional; sometimes I keep it plain to repurpose in other recipes. Sometimes I spice it. It’s beans, who cares.)

    Directions:
Soak beans (optional). Wash beans. Put beans in pot or pressure cooker. Boil.

What screams “college-student staple” to me is not the food, it’s the candle jar. 😂 Your beans look really good, though!

Black Beans: 45m hp, 20m natural release. 1 Ib beans. 4c water/broth. Bay leaves if ya got ’em. One white onion. DO NOT EVER USE YELLOW it makes it too sweet. 1tsp cumin. Add garlic to taste. Makes great burritos with cheddar cheese. I mostly use these for enchiladas.

Refried Beans: Repeat above but use pinto. Add 1tbs or so of lard. After it’s cooked add 1/4c or more oil (or lard) and fry. Great with Spanish rice and cheese sauce.
