Hello fellow Fiends,
We are spending the weekend in Vancouver near the convention area for the weekend. We love Coffee and are looking for your “must try” suggestions? We really enjoy Light and Medium roast, love the wild stuff and fruit bombs. Also really enjoy a good Syphon service. Looking for your “must visit” places. Pic for attention – Proud Mary Portland Oregon.

I love C-Market. Two locations: Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam. Might not be viable if you’re tied to Vancouver proper.
Pallet is very well regarded.
Milano for traditional Italian styles.
This has been explored in this sub fairly recently so a search will bring up some relevant threads.
Revolver! I haven’t been in a few years, but the last time I went I was ready to label it the best in North America.
49th Parallel! There’s a great location in Kitsilano Beach area. My favorite coffee roaster, and they have fantastic donuts.
R Ki Coffee Lab
Nemesis
Sunny M
Modus
Yuán
Prototype
Vancouverite here! SO many great options here but here are my recommendations. The first three are all within a few blocks downtown.
– [Nemesis](https://www.nemesis.coffee/?srsltid=AfmBOop-ibphGLNbeJ7uwdcaU2nMvz6Cgx-ya1og25VEehMPi71OgOLz) (there are several locations). They roast their own beans and their pastries are soooo good!
– [Revolver](https://revolvercoffee.ca/?srsltid=AfmBOopeqq6JJJTIyNQquEIQHGE2KhrSzlrjUXNDy_LZ-pdLhFUvllY3) (as mentioned). They have a great selection of beans here, local and international.
– [Timbertrain](https://timbertraincoffeeroasters.com/?srsltid=AfmBOorjUP1sfkc4FV_JHMOOKQjlGbHwxirg2R9HgT_GuxGmo4oTHH5S). I really enjoy Timbertrain and I find their beans are amazing as well. They’re downtown. Not as strong on the pastry side but nothing will beat Nemesis (purely in my opinion).
– [Elysian Coffee](https://elysiancoffee.com). Very enjoyable medium roast espresso.
– [Prototype](https://www.prototypecoffee.ca) – this place is highly rated but (and this is a pretty controversial opinion), I actually find them kinda middle of the road.
– [Pallet](https://palletcoffeeroasters.com/?srsltid=AfmBOorBGDFKnVHQOzzQ_V6XqBIt2_gE6VWze7hVddVOWLXT9hWZHSMS) – my dear dear pallet. Great beans and they have several locations and are well priced. I’ve had this as a staple on my home espresso bar for many months at a time.
– [49th Parallel](https://49thcoffee.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAACKwe2VJMvLYV1oOO-QKRCBsQIGTZ&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsoe5BhDiARIsAOXVoUvxRRVxzlSf2ttblSN_Vj1GCJ6OwP0gnO534iV11fnIJAx8N7dFRU0aAiqxEALw_wcB)/Lucky’s donuts – the doughnuts are great and their coffee isn’t bad. If you find their beans in a grocery store, pass – they are not the same as what is roasted at their shops. Same beans but much older. They have some surprisingly interesting single origins at their shop. I really find their epic espresso to be very reliable. it’s a medium but getting on the darker side.
Okay and one more honourable mention. IF you can get your hands on some of these beans you will not regret it: [Luna](https://enjoylunacoffee.com). Luna is sooooo good. They used to sell these beans at Nemesis but since Nemesis started roasting their own they stopped. They’re in Abbotsford roasting but they there’s a place called Birds and the Beets downtown that allegedly has these beans.
Welcome to Vancouver and I really hope you enjoy your stay. It’s rainy and kinda gross out this week unfortunately. We get a bad rap for not being friendly but I hope that isn’t your experience. Enjoy!
Milano is my favorite
What area? City of Vancouver, or larger area?
Assuming you want city of Vancouver only:
I mostly base what I get at local shops based on who’s working. Most shops here have a good bit of variabce between employees for espresso.
You will be able to get espresso flights similar to your pic at Revolver. It’s hit and miss lately. My last visit wasnt great.
Nearby Revolver is Nemesis (they have multiple locations) which is very good most of the time. My favorite right now is also close by there at The Birds & the Beets.
Funk. Coffee house has some incredible beans that they roast. I really like their Mellow bean for my espresso at home.
Oide is absolutely worth the trip across the Burrard Bridge- especially if you plan on visiting Granville Island.
Those are my favorites, but there are many other good options.
Top 5 IMHO:
1.Propaganda
2.Oide Cafe
3.R Ki Coffee Lab
4.Revolver
5.Nemesis
Revolver, Prototype and Yuan
Revolver first and foremost. Then I would checkout Oide and Slo Coffee.
All this third wave fruity espresso is embarrassing
Go to Italy or Portugal, come back here, and you’ll know how an espresso should REALLY taste
It’s embarrassing
Oidé Coffee
Ahh Vancouver, the home of my other favourite Reddit group LTT…….that is all.
Wow how do I get an experience like this in the sf Bay Area?
Revolver.
Elysian and 49th parallel are my goto. Elysian Ethiopian beans and anything small batch from 49th are usually very enjoyable.
