  1. Homemade Cranberry Sauce
    (Thanksgiving Side Dish)
    Ingredients:

    • Juice of 2 oranges (about 1/2 cup)
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar
    • 12 ounces (about 3 cups) fresh or frozen cranberries

    Optional Add-Ins:

    • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • Zest from 1 orange (for extra citrus flavor)
    • 1/4 cup finely chopped pecans (for a bit of crunch)
    • 1/4 cup apple cider or pomegranate juice (for a twist in flavor)

    Instructions:

    1. Juice the Oranges: Squeeze the juice from two oranges and pour it into a medium saucepan.
    2. Combine Ingredients: Add the cranberries, granulated sugar, and brown sugar to the saucepan. If you’re using any optional ingredients, add them now.
    3. Cook the Sauce: Place the pan over high heat and stir until the mixture starts to boil.
    4. Simmer: Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.
    5. Serve: Let the sauce cool slightly, then serve warm or chilled.
