Interesting. One of the things the WSM guys do is take the water pan out and smoke right over the coals as a “mod”. Seems like the egg crew does the opposite for a mod?

Yep, the smoking stone is a HUGE game changer as far as being able to use the Akorn as a smoker. The Akorn was my first smoker. I was never very good at getting the vents set for the temps I wanted so I bought a controller for it, basically making it an Auto Kamado.
If you were in my area I would sell you my Akorn, smoke stone, cover, and temp controller for 200. It’s all in great shape, but I have hardly touched it since I got a Gravity 980. Now I just got my SNS kettle assembled (won it plus accessories) so now I’ve got three on the porch and my wife is starting to grumble…
