OMG! Where do you live. 5lbs for $9. Mail me some!!!

Yes, throw that in the slow cooker with your favorites. You might have to cut it in halves or thirds to make sure the lid fits properly.

  2. Yes. I’ve done a ~4lb pork loin at that temp and time in the slow cooker and it always comes out like pulled pork.

Yep. I do it all the time. Salt and pepper the roastlice up an onion, put in a couple of minced garlic cloves and half a cup of chicken broth. Go to work and come back to the smell of heaven.

Oh yeah you should be fine. I rarely cook pork loins that size along with vegetables and rice. I have learned to put the rice in a layer above another layer so it doesn’t stick to the bottom.

Get yourself a meat thermometer. Then you never have to worry.

Lol my boyfriend left a 2 1/2 pound shoulder beef roast in the slow cooker overnight on high. We had added enough liquid that it turned out great anyway.

Yesss throw a little apple cider vinegar and worcestershire and spices in there 🤌🤌🤌

  8. Not only ok, it’s encouraged. Sounds great & post how it turns out / recipe.

Loin is relatively low in fat, so it may turn out on the dry side. You’d have better luck with pork butt.

Slow cooking slowly breaks down all the fat that is marbled throughout meat, and makes usually tough meat very juicy and tender. Loin has low fat content, and is usually better grilled or roasted.

Yes. Pork butt 8 to 10 hours on low. Little to no liquid. It cooks in ita own juices. Never did a loin.

I plan 1.5 hours per pound when slow cooking, so 8 hours is about right

It’s a very lean cut of meat but it will definitely go in the crockpot on low. Probably won’t take 8 hours.

I made one like this over the weekend. I put a layer on onion, celery, and carrot in the bottom of the crockpot before I put in the meat. The vegetables released enough liquid to keep it all moist. I did mine for 8 hours, just about exactly to the ounce same size, got mine at walmart also.

Yes, but I find pork loins to be a bit dry. Pork shoulders have more fat, thus are more tender and tastier. Just a thought.

You can absolutely cook this in a slowcooker and get decent results, but typically a pork loin is going to do much better with a high-heat-quick-cook approach, like over a grill or searing off in a cast iron pan. Loin cuts have very little fat so there is not much in the way of protecting the meat from drying out. Typically a similar size of pork shoulder/pork butt is a better alternative since its got that fat content to keep everything juicy.

This is a very lean cut of meat. I highly recommend you brine it for at least a few hours. Then pan frying cutlets is a good option for this cut. Butts are much better for slow roasting.

Edit: Sous vide is excellent for pork loin. especially after brining.

Throw in a jar of green hatch chillies and it becomes delicious pork tacos with ease.

Chin on floor! $9! Not the Canadian Prairies LOL.

Maybe i am doing it wrong, but every time I try and slow cook a pork loin it’s terribly dry and tough.

Best just to sear it and cook to proper internal temp

If you want it to be terrible yes. Pork loin should be cooked to 140 max. It will be dry as the desert.

Love a good hunk of pork with some green salsa, cumin, chili powder, garlic in the slow cooker
