I didn’t want the bone with the harder to cut meat to go to waste so I boiled it for about 16 hours until all the connective tissues became gelatinous.
I added 2 cups carrots, 6 gold potatoes, fresh thyme, dries split peas (2 lbs) many bay leaves, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, sauteeded a red onion in butter, some beef bone broth granules, and cooked that together.
I fished out all the carrots and half of the potatoes and pureed them with a stick blender before adding to the pot and cooking some more to reduce.
I made buttered croutons from frozen Canyon Bakehouse gluten-free bread by cutting them into pieces and toasting in a skillet with butter.

This looks absolutely wonderful and full of flavor, OP! And a very pleasant surprise that it’s gluten free – I also cannot have gluten so I feel your pain.

Love the chickens! Reminds me of my Grandma’s house and that’s where we always had the best food.
And yea, comfort food is very helpful atm. We’re already planning a camping trip for a little escape from reality soon.

Omg yum! I saw your ham that you posted yesterday, and that also looked delicious! I don’t have celiac disease, but I get very unwell from consuming wheat/gluten products. So I’m really looking forward to seeing what tasty dishes you post next! Thanks for the great recipe!
