Really fun meal at Alapar in Barcelona recently, and a really great value at €95 for the larger of two omakase options.
- Crispy tapioca biscuit with shiso cream
- Smoked mackerel with bottarga
- Tuna tartar mushipan
- Skipjack with onion and kizami
- Squid sashimi and pork on toasted bread
- Grilled portabello with miso black pepper sauce
- Yellowtail handroll with shiso
- Wagyu handroll
- Toro
- Turbot and pil pil
- Chawanmushi with eel sauce, roe, and mussels
- Squid and uni maki
- Eel with kabayaki sauce
- Langoustine with ponzu butter sauce
- Monkfish suquet
- Pork and scallop with pork broth
- Wasabi ice cream
- Vanilla kakigori and figs montadito
- Chocolate-filled mochi and olive oil ice cream
- Petit fours
Lots of standouts on this menu. I would say the mains (suquet and pork & scallops) slightly underperformed compared to everything else. Wasabi ice cream was insanely good.
Wouldn’t be surprised if they get a star next year!
