There was (trimmed) skirt steak going for 6.50/lb at the Jewel on Roosevelt and Michigan. Looks like they have a big stockpile that they need to run through.

I sent my husband to get the $4.99/lb skirt steak advertised in the weekly ad at Jewel earlier this week. The weekly ad just had skirt steak listed and it said (in bag) in parentheses so we had no idea what it meant. It also said trimmed skirt steak for $6.99 but I told my husband make sure you get the cheaper one.
He went to the butcher department and asked about the 4.99 skirt steak and the butcher said “really?”, went to the back and pulled out one of these beasts. We were just having fajitas for 4 and have no freezer space so needless to say we spent the $6.99 per pound instead lol

I got one of these. About 19 pounds. Trimmed off about 2 pounds of fat. Vacuum sealed portions of it.

I’ve noticed since early July every week Jewel seems to have a really good deal on a specific cut. Last week with the $5.99lb. T-Bones for example. Usually I assume this is clearing out inventory but I guess this is a new marketing strategy?
The last 4 times I’ve bought meat at jewel, it’s been rotten. I bought the $3.99/lb ground beef yesterday – with a packed date of 10/31 – and it was rotten when I opened it last night. Jewel on western/addison and elston/addison have both been selling rotten meat in the last few months. Beware!

They had large eye of round like that a few weeks ago at $4.99/lb. Made 2 roasts & 8 steaks from it. Great deal!

Skirt is usually $11-$12/lb. Even the trimmed $7/lb I’m reading in the comments is an awesome deal.

Everyday price at the store near(Armitage produce) me is $7 a pound so I feel like $5 isnt even that good of a deal after you spend an hour trimming and lose a quarter of the weight.

I got these from cermak in Rogers park yesterday. $5.99 a lb my just over 2 lb package was 13 ish
There are a lot of good deals around. To find one at the jewels is rare.
