So is the $100 price difference worth it? The kettle is the same size. Only difference i can find online is the ash catcher.

Opinions??

I would personally only get a kettle with the better ash catcher, so that starts with the premium. I went master touch, because colors, and I am not disappointed.

The Smaller one is what they call the “Jumbo Joe Premium” it was designed to get you the basic Weber Kettle at a $100 price point. It is 22″, but shallower, and the legs are shorter, making it ideal for sitting down at, rather than standing up at. It doesn’t have the bottom vents, or the ash catcher, but it’s super light, and easy to just pick up and dump the whole thing (into a fire pit for example) You can still fit all of the aftermarket accessories on it, though, like hinged grates, charcoal baskets, cyclones, etc. I have this, and an 18″ Smokey Mountain smoker, and it covers all the bases I would ever need. When you go above the Original Kettle you get more options, but IMHO, with diminishing returns per extra $100. Their Most expensive models, are the Premium Kettles with custom paintjobs like College Football Team Helmets, etc. I enjoyed getting into a kettle for $100, then being able to afford extras like the charcoal baskets and hinged grates. With a water pan, and charcoal pans, you can still smoke meats on it. I do all the time, you just need to spatchcock your chicken because a beer can rig probably won’t fit under the lid (that’s why I have the Smokey Mountain – for big birds)

I highly recommend hitting up Facebook marketplace. I’ve seen plenty of premium and originals for less than $100 as well as a few master touches for under $200. Hell saw a Genesis for free this morning that I’m considering driving the 2 hours to get, just waiting on the woman to respond.

In that picture, get the premium version. Like others have said, having an ash catcher is one of the best things to have on those kettle grills.

Get the master or the performer deluxe. Having an attached table and is a major game changer plus no worrying about the kettle getting knocked over.
