These showed up on a few of my late season scotch bonnets. At first glance, the lines look like something you could wash off but they are part of the pepper.

    Lots of rain/water lately? Mine did the same thing, but it seems scotch bonnets don’t cork and keep going like jalapenos, they get like this and can rot quickly afterwards

    Looks like they’re rotting or fermenting, but it’s hard to tell in a photo. Are they getting squishy?

    Those are called scrotum lines. It’s when the fertile seed are fully mature for reproduction.

    I don’t think that’s corking. It feels more like pest damage or fungus. I’d still eat it though haha

    I noticed that when they start doing that, that the seeds are black and starting to rot
