Went there earlier this year. It’s good but not worth waiting like 40+ minutes for.

In my opinion Tacombi is excellent and there is zero wait for a table in West Loop or Wicker before 5pm. Just a heads up tacos are 2 for 1 every Tuesday all day which is an incredible deal. Drinks are all discounted too.

Trust me it’s not worth it . When we were in Mx city the locals even said there were plenty of other spots that beat this spot. Still went like an idiot anf waited an hour plus only to be wildly disappointed.

Had no idea it was started, got take out and didn’t take forever. Would recommend!

Tacombi has been in Fulton for a while now.
It’s nothing exciting. It’s a taco joint and has decent margaritas. The space is super basic. Service is passable but not excellent. They have three “house” salsas. Prices are high for what you’re getting. If you’ve been to Big Star, you’ve been to Tacombi.
I’ve never been to the one in Mexico City, but if what they’re doing is the same as Chicago and it got them a Michelin star, that’s a big head scratcher. I HAVE been to Mexico City and the food scene is hopping.

I had these tacos nonstop in Polanco while healing from a nose job lol. I liked them because they were lean and didn’t taste bad. I ate tacos everyday and lost weight.

Apparently they did a Califa de Leon pop-up at their NYC locations and it was bad and nothing like the CDMX location.

I literally had Tacombi tacos last night in NYC and they were dreadful. But it’s such an odd coincidence since I had never even heard of the place until last night and here it is popping up in my hometown.

Waited forever to try these in Mexico City – was sorely disappointed.

I ate there and the tacos were weak as hell
Go late at night to and there isn’t a line

It’s not the chain Tacombi like the photo suggests; Tacombi is just the site for the pop up:
>Here’s some Taco Tuesday news you can use: **Mexico City’s only Michelin-starred taqueria** will pop up in November in Chicago. **El Califa de León**, founded in 1968, is known for its thinly sliced beef taco and delicious corn tortillas. The one-Michelin-star operation will attempt to recreate its Mexican magic in Chicago for two weeks at Tacombi locations in Wicker Park and Fulton Market.

Michelin is pay to play and you can’t swing a dead cat in this town without hitting a great, authentic taqueria.

I created [chefsguide.co](http://chefsguide.co) to help alert people when popups like this or other new restaurants are opening up in there area. Instead of weeding through the mess of the internet – you get a proactive email/text when something new is opening up!
