So I’m nowhere close to a steak expert. Wouldn’t even really know what you’d consider the doneness of this cut. I was going for more of a medium, but what does everyone think? I feel like it may have needed a bit longer but the two people I made it for said the steaks were perfect. Maybe a bit more medium rare, but the steak itself did have a great consistency.

You did very well, you should be proud this is your first attempt. Nice sear on it and it looks like it’s pretty much medium well done which is just a shade over what I prefer for a ribeye.

ETA-In reality it’s probably somewhere between medium and medium well. Anyway I would love that steak I don’t mean to be critical. For a first attempt this is amazing

That definitely isn’t medium well to me. If you were aiming for medium, I’d say you achieved it pretty well. Pic 4 is misleading. It makes it looked cook more than it likely is. But all of the other pictures are solidly medium. Looks good.

It took me several attempts before my steaks looked that good.

Good to me. Congrats. You nailed a medium on your first attempt. Keep it up.

Can’t tell if it’s crust or burnt pepper, but if it’s pepper or seasoning, best is to use salt only during the cook, everything else afterward – as other seasonings will typically burn well before the crust or oil.

Crust looks great , internal temp bit to far imo but hey nothing to sneeze at for a first attempt
