Forgot to mention, this was the cookie dough flavor.
I bought two more the next day and one of them was also spoiled again.

It looks like it melted and refroze. That likely happened during transport (could have been while you drove it home). They make it in a factory near me. I’ve been inside and the place is a mess but I doubt they would mess up making it.

I stopped buying it because of this. Always gritty and nasty. Such a bummer

I only buy halo top in person so I can make sure the seals are intact :/ btw if you email them they will send you a coupon for a free pint 🙂

most grocery stores accept anything back at any time for any reason if its uneaten. i know its a hassle to bring it back (bring your receipt bc if you don’t, they will give the lowest recent price which could be a BOGO.) however that would be a real deterrent for me!

I’ve noticed this as well. The ice cream is usually still fine I just nuke it for like 15 seconds in the microwave and you’d never know.

Somewhere along the chain of custody somebody let it melt and it re-froze in the freezer aisle.

This is the big reason I stopped buying it – many containers obviously melted and refroze into a rock. Also I had more than one container that was way under filled with a big air hole in the middle.

I had a brief period of the same thing happening to me- the store wasn’t getting the ice cream into the freezer immediately after delivery, causing that ice effect. I talked to an employee and they told me a few weeks later they figured out that while most ice cream can handle sitting for a little bit outside of a freezer, halo top can’t. So they updated their system to get them into freezers right away and the problem resolved.
Long story short, it’s 99% because the grocery store is prioritizing freezing it at the same level of other ice cream, when that isn’t fast enough. They should be open to changing since they don’t want to destroy merchandise.

This is most likely a grocery store problem and not a halo top problem. Had a stint where I’d get halo top and my ex got regular ice cream for a few weeks and we noticed the same issue happening with our ice creams, despite them being completely different companies.

This is in issue caused after the product leaves the factory. Halo good walmart bad.

When this happened to me, I emailed Halo Top and they sent me coupons, including for free product.

Halo top is a stupid idea, they remove fat but keep the sugar. How about recipes for low sugar ice-cream?
