Went through the 6 stages of grief rather quickly. 30 quarts of home grown sauce ruined by aluminum, lessons learned haha.

Ugh yeah aluminum is very reactive to the acid in tomatoes. I splurged on a stainless stock pot years ago for this reason.

Oof! That’s pretty devastating! Thanks for posting it here to warn others. I’d not heard of this. I’m sorry!

I have seen good stainless pots at a lot of estate auctions , some really big ones . I picked up a stainless pot almost 40 yrs ago on the H.S.N STILL GOING STRONG.

If I could go back to my past young self, I would have def went to a restaurant supply store and bought commercial stainless pans and pots. They can be 1/3 the cost of consumer stainless and will last forever. I would have been using the same pots today 30 years later.
I’ve been slowly buying commercial stainless as the last of my consumer brand stuff dies.

I had an aluminum pasta pot with a pasta insert and steamer insert, and I donated it and bought a big stainless steel soup pot, for that exact reason. Mine is Cuisinart and I might have bought on Amazon or Macy’s. I’ve had it 10+ years. Macy’s has great sales, if you keep an eye out. When I went to the restaurant supply, a few years ago, I think just about everything was aluminum.
