Are Sakuma drops still available anywhere? I heard that another company is making them now but I can’t find it 🥹

Honestly, kinda fucked up that they use Setsuko on the branding…
In any case, yes, Sakuma Drops are still produced, just not in the original version from the original makers – that was discontinued due to bankruptcy. But they’re still made by other companies; I have a white tin of them from my local Asian market, and there’s still modern versions that have currently-airing popular anime characters on the tins.
I don’t want to be flippant by just telling you to Google it, but I literally just typed “Sakuma Drops” into a search engine and got a ton of local and online vendors selling them. So you presumably shouldn’t have any trouble at least ordering some for delivery. Given that they were only discontinued in January 2023, you can probably still even get a hold of the original version without too much difficulty or expense.

One of the local Japanese grocery stores here HAD cases full of Sakuma drops. But that was a good two years ago.

Iirc the company that used the red tins went out of business fairly recently, but the one that uses green tins is still out there. Both are descended from the same original manufacturer that stopped making them during ww2.
Edit: Looks like the green tin company leaves out the 式 in the name, if that helps.

I’d probably pass, I don’t need to cry every time I look at the tin lol.

Oh wow~ 68 years old and what a flash back. I could instantly see the candies and it reminded me of my Bachan in Japan. 🌺
