For all my peppers, the first one takes FOREVER to ripen. Like, 4-6 weeks for some. But after that, there’s a solid harvest every week (disease, pests, and extreme weather notwithstanding).

Once I saw my first pepper, it took a couple months for one to turn red. Around 3 months after seeing the first pepper I harvested about 8 red peppers and there were a few green in there. Another 3 months later I harvested another 12 or so red peppers and a couple orange ones.
I’m in a fairly cold climate for peppers and my outdoor plants didn’t do great but they did good enough to make me happy and give me some heat 🙂

If growing from seed, can take up to 8 months or so. You can cut it back before frost hits, and transplant indoors. I did this for three years in a row with a reaper. Ended up a 6 ft tree, and actually grew bark on the stock! Cut back watering to only once a month to avoid mold or mildew. It will wither and become yellow. When frost threat discontinues, gradually increase time outside! Gl2u
