I as most people really enjoy the flavor of this sauce. It’s pretty much my daily driver. The only issue I see most people have is the food dye used in it. With that being said, does anyone have an alternative? Personally I wouldn’t mind something similar with a bit more kick to it.

Marie Sharp’s green cactus.
Fuck, this just ruined me. The combo of the hab red and hab green have been a staple for me. Why tf is stuff still used in food? It just adds coloring and there’s substantial evidence enough for countries to ban it?
Apparently they took the coloring out but it didn’t sell as good. $$$ over health of your customers I guess
I see a lot of people bothered by the food dye but I mean I drink soda, I vape weekly, I drink alcohol once, sometimes twice a week. I’m not sure food dye is really that big a concern.
Also I got vaxxed twice. Didn’t die. Microchips control my brain now, so maybe that’s it?
Other shit will kill you long before the dye has any effect. Hell, the salt will do worse damage.
I wish it didn’t have dye, but it’s delicious and I don’t use it every day. It is what it is.
IIRC their XXXtra Hot sauce is free of dyes, though it still has some preservatives
Try the Marie Sharps green hab nopal sauce. It’s at least as hot, no food dye, and better flavor imo. Even though lots of people don’t seem concerned about the food dye, most of the rest of the world has outright banned US food coloring due to concerns over cancer. There are a few good studies claiming they are carcinogenic. So the people saying “it’s just a little, it won’t hurt” is like saying “it’s only one cigarette”. Will a little hurt you? Maybe, maybe not. But I’d rather not find out a decade later that I could have avoided it and not gotten cancer.. if you know something is bad for you, avoid it as much as possible. At least that’s my take.
Is there actually a reason people are so averse to colorings?
What are the food dyes that people are concerned about? I just googled the ingredients list and it says “colored with turmeric, fruit juice, and vegetable juice”.
Lots of short-sighted answers here. I never thought I’d see so many people clinging onto known carcinogens as a pointless food ingredient, or making up fallacies to justify using them.
By the way, try that Marie Sharpe green. It’s the shit.
I just notice it yesterday, they used habaneros to make green Chile sauce using dyes,
Trader Joes Habanero its way spicier which is good or bad depending on your preference
That stuff is good, but gives me explosive diarrhea, but halfway through it before I threw it away. So, there’s that
Chimay Green habanero is lovely
i love yucateco, but the green tastes weird to me. I get the red if i’m shopping in a store, or the Mayan when i’m buying online. 2L jugs, 35 bucks.
Shoot. At this point in my life, and gods only know what the future holds now, I’m eating all the food dyes.
This is so good. I don’t care if it has plutonium in it. I’m going to keep eating it.
Please, for the love of fuck, can somebody tell me what their aversion is to food dye?
Unless it is a TRUE intolerance I cannot WAIT to hear some dumbass responses.
Personally, I don’t really care that it’s neon green. If you like this brand but want more kick, buy their Xxxtra hot. In addition to being spicier, I actually think it tastes even better. Also, I don’t think they add food dye to that one.
Why not just get their regular habanero? It’s just the same sauce but not dyed green.
The label on the bottle posted says, “Now With Natural Color.” I haven’t seen that one, but I don’t mind the nuclear waste colored version, either.
“It’s not necessary”
Well, if you believe in how pure capitalism works, it’s is, actually.
I’m not weighing in on the issue one way or another here.
Sometimes I run out of dog food and I have to go to the pharmacy and grab a quick small bag. Usually the best they have is Purina beneful.
My dog loves it, like fast food for him.
It’s colored like Lucky charms. Last I checked dogs are colorblind.
Food coloring is a terrible ingredient. It doesn’t taste good and as a food snob/culinary activist I don’t agree with ingredients in food that don’t taste good.
Try the xxxtra hot. Slightly different flavor but a bit hotter. Both are staples in my life
Just get Marie Sharp’s Green sauce.
Problem solved
Who cares? You know how much other shit we inhale every day just existing? It doesn’t matter and anyone saying it does doesn’t know wtf they’re talking about. Source: I’m an environmental attorney.
Have you tried the XXX variant? Personally I’ve heard nothing about this “controversy” but also don’t care about the color much either, sell me shit brown looking sauce, if it tastes good.
