I had an extra cutout while decorating this Minecraft order, and thought it would be cool to do a little test and post the side-by-side comparison. Both of these cookies were decorated using the same icing, and the exact same techniques to avoid cratering (poking holds and piping squiggly lines before flooding). The only difference is that for the cookie on the left, I let the base flood dry overnight before adding the face details. For the cookie on the right, I waited 30 minutes after flooding before adding the face. The results speak for themselves!

    I just learned this recently!

Oh, any reason why a completely dried base causes sinking on the top details?

Thank you for sharing this! Showing the difference instead of just speaking about it makes a whole other group understand it!

You are an angel!! It drives me crazy when testing my methods because i did not consider that! I always let my first layer dry before adding the next. Ive poked the holes, done the squiggles and still go craters! I’ll def apply this on my next batch. Thank you!
