Is there anyone here who could tell me the importance of having an LLC for your cookies business? And when in the process I need one. Like if I’m only selling to family/friends, do I still need one? Also, can anyone tell me the yearly fees for one? My business is not very active right now, due to life circumstances, but I do love making/selling cookies when I can.
If someone is willing to go into detail, I would really appreciate it. When I searched this topic on this subreddit already, most of what I found was people saying you should get one, but I need the why. Thanks in advance. Photo of some of my work. Totally unrelated to the post

This kind of stuff strongly depends on your state and its laws. You may be able to sell under cottage law in most states up to an amount. If you’re only selling to friends and family, I would hold off but if you start selling outside of that (ie strangers or markets) then start looking into it
As long as you maintain a clean cookie making environment, clearly mark your ingredients, and aren’t selling in bulk to companies you’ll be fine without one.
