Like many of y’all, I am a fan of Kirkland wines, so I decided to taste each of these and have a glass of my favorite.

2021 Napa Valley Suscol Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

This wine is definitely the most tannic of the three. On the nose, I detected blackberry and oak. On the palate, I tasted the same, with a pleasant coffee finish. The wine has mellowed a bit over time. I was worried I might have waited too long to open it, but I think it’s in a good spot now. I wouldn’t wait much longer, though.

    2019 Brunello di Montalcino

This wine has distinct blackberry notes on the nose, along with brighter fruit like raspberry. I also pick up some minerality. On the palate, I get blackberry, raspberry, a touch of earthiness, and minerality. It has great acidity. The tannins aren’t as pronounced as in the cab, of course, but still present. Overall, it’s a solid wine.

    2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape

On the nose, I get spice, blackberry, and some minerality, with a hint of earthiness. On the palate, I find all that and more, including a delightful dark chocolate note that permeates from start to finish, which is quite long. Being a younger wine, it’s bolder with some of the flavors. Very solid wine, though.

I liked the Brunello di Montalcino best. It’s a more subtle wine that opens up nicely with air. My palate is leaning towards more subtle wines at the moment. If I were in the mood for a bigger wine, I’d have chosen the Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

All of these wines are excellent, and in my opinion, they’re the best reds Kirkland has offered. The best part is they’re affordable, so if you don’t like them, it’s no great loss.

    They’re probably all awesome

The Kirkland CdP is legit good wine, especially considering the price point. I’ve tried some of the other Kirkland wines people hype like the barolo, but nothing came close to the CdP

  4. scrabapple

I bet that Kirkland Napa Cab was actually made by a somewhat reputable producer. They actually get good wineries to make their wines.

The Suscol was very good. Their CdP is outstanding.

    You’re just missing the Borolo.

I hear Kirkland Oakville is especially amazing!

I definitely want to try their 2019 Brunello. The 2018 fell a little flat for me, but I did decant it and maybe I shouldn’t have?

I’ve recently had the Cab and CdP and they’re great! I drink a lot of Kirkland wine and they’re all pretty great for what they are.

Omg I saw this and had to double check that it wasn’t a post I made while a little tipsy last night!

I love all of these, with that CdP being my favorite Kirkland wine. Costco has been so clutch for my adventures into wine, both with the Kirkland stuff and the random things they get in.

I had the Kirkland Stag’s Leap recently and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to tasting their other Napa cabs.

I must’ve had a different suscol than everyone else here because the one I had was all fruit barely any tannin or oak influence and just bland.

OP – sorry! I made a rude comment earlier. Thx community for keeping me in check 🫡 enjoy your bottles

I was not a fan of the Suscol Cab personally, but the Oakville cab was great if you can find it at your Costco. Great lineup, and a fun, affordable tasting!

  12. Urethra_Xtreem

I really loved the Kirkland rioja reserva!

Please yes…please enable these giant corporations more and suckle at the tit of convenience

Ok didn’t see the Brunello. Is that recent? I saw the other day Napa Rutherford which I heard is great.
